Case study of Chaithali – Removal of Incorrect “Settled” Status from CITI Bank Account

When Chaithali applied for a loan, she came to know that an old CITI Bank account was reflecting with a “Settled” status in her credit report. Due to this negative remark, her loan application got rejected.

Since it was a very old account, she was not completely sure about the exact history of the account. However, she confirmed that she had already cleared whatever amount CITI Bank had asked her to pay earlier.

Based on this information, Kenstone Capital approached CITI Bank and requested the removal of the incorrect “Settled” flag. Initially, the response from the bank was shocking, as they stated that an amount of ₹1,39,965.54 was still pending and needed to be paid in order to remove the settled status.

The matter was then escalated further by requesting clarification regarding the alleged pending amount along with the detailed bank statement and supporting records.

After around 10 days of continuous follow-up and escalation, the bank finally confirmed that there was no outstanding balance pending and that the issue had been resolved.

Finally, the incorrect “Settled” status was successfully removed from all four credit bureau reports, thereby correcting Chaithali’s credit profile successfully.

Chaithali was extremely happy with the resolution and shared her experience through the following review:
